Module 2: Social Media
In this module, there are four activities designed to show students that aspects of multimedia can affect their personal lives and the decisions they make.
"Application with Apps!"- 105 minutes
"TERMS"-90 minutes
"Ads! Ads! Ads! Ads!"-95 minutes
"Media and Me!" -75 minutes
In "Application with Apps!" students will have the opportunity to see how technology can aid in critical thinking, using the SAMR model created by Dr. Ruben Puentedura.
In "TERMS" the students will gain insight into what they really signed up for when they use social media applications and websites. They will take a closer look at the terms and conditions of a popular website, and design their own web page with terms and conditions that they would like to see in their "website."
In the activity "Ads! Ads! Ads! Ads!", students will explore how advertisements and commercials have various tones and moods that can be inferred by setting, the actions of the characters in the commercials, and the song choice.
In the activity "Media and Me", students will reflect on how exactly social media (through the internet and other applications) affects their perspectives, how they view themselves and how they view others.
